The recipe is super easy, quick to make and the taste is really yummy. Don’t get put off by the colour – the intense green is only beneficial.

- Trick or Treat: It is a treat because it is fat free, has no artificial sugars and has of vitamins and iron.
- Allergies: Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is suitable for diabetics but bear in mind that there is natural sugars.
Apart from that, the benefits of having a glass of this lovely green smoothie to your day is endless. You can chuck all ingredients in a blender just before leaving for work and this smoothie will help to give you a boost of energy to face the day ahead!
If you don’t know already, the darker the leaves are, the more iron and fibre they are likely to contain. The fruit we add to it will be full of vitamins and minerals that will aid your body to function better, as well helping to speed up your metabolism (a.k.a. help to lose those additional pounds)
So let’s get started:
1 tea spoon of chia seeds
1/2 lemon or lime
1 Handful of spinach
1/3 of a cup of coconut milk or 1/2 glass of the dairy free , low fat coconut milk
1 tea spoon of vanilla essence
To make this smoothie is very simple, you just need to squeeze the lemon/lime juice into your blender, add all the remaining ingredients in and pulse for a few seconds (around 10 I would say)
I like those bullet blenders, because they blend everything really quickly and the result is a yummy smoothie.
**The banana will make your smoothie sweet so you won’t need to add any artificial sugars and will have an energy boosting drink to help start your day happily different (and full of energy!)
